This command pastes the contents of the Windows Clipboard into the current drawing.
This process can use two different formats:
If the Clipboard contains data in Malz++Kassner CAD6 (MKD) format, that data is used. All objects, instances, blocks, and elements are inserted into the current drawing. If, however, the Clipboard contains only data in Enhanced Metafile Format (EMF) or Window Metafile Format (WMF), that data is converted to objects and inserted into the drawing. Text and bitmap data within the metafile data will however be ignored. Use Options > Data Exchange to determine which file format shall be written to the clipboard.
Conflicts can arise when inserting blocks. As blocks are identified by their names, each name must be unique within a drawing. If blocks in the clipboard have names already in use in the current drawing, then they cannot be pasted.
If the Clipboard contains data in Malz++Kassner CAD6 (MKD) format with a reference point, the inserted objects can now immediately be placed by entering a destination point:
The destination point to which the pasted objects shall be moved can be entered by clicking the mouse at any point within the drawing.
If the entry of the destination point is cancelled, the pasted objects will be deleted.
The pasted objects and instances are marked internally as if they had been selected. Because of this, they can quickly be selected by using the F11 Key if, for example, they are to be moved or scaled.
As the appearance of an object depends on the current pen, line type and layer settings, the appearance of pasted objects may be different to their original appearance. The current pen, line type and layer settings may be very different to those in the original drawing.
